The community is working to add the mode via mods

A lot of fans of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 were confused and annoyed to find out that there was no way to play a local, offline cooperative session in the new game despite the fact that the feature seemed to be advertised on the official Steam page of the title before launch.

Now, the team at Capcom in charge of the title has issued a statement explaining that a variety of customizable visual settings and resolutions are supported and that makes it hard to deliver a solid coop mode.

The company adds, "The decision to prioritize a single local screen was made to ensure a stable user experience across a variety of different PC settings and devices. Raid mode will support online co-op shortly after launch when a free patch is available for players to download which adds this feature, but the main campaign on PC will only be available to play in single local screen."

A NeoGAF thread, where fans have been debating the problem and the way Capcom has reacted, currently features a screenshot that shows how the community might be able to enable offline coop for Resident Evil: Revelations 2.

The publisher needs to clear up the confusion and to make it easy for gamers who want to enable the experience at their own risk to modify their games.
