The game was being worked on by Double Helix

Some gameplay videos from a canceled Xbox 360 Justice League brawler have just popped up on YouTube, showing what almost became a game.

The short videos feature a battle between Batman and Superman, and between Bizarro and Bane, in a 3D environment with a dynamic camera.

The game predates the release of Injustice: Gods Among Us, created by Mortal Kombat maker NetherRealms Studios. Injustice features a ton of superheroes from the DC Universe kicking each other's butts and an interesting way to deliver the storyline.

Oh, and Injustice also has everyone juiced up in order to be able to take a punch from Superman without exploding.

The footage doesn't look great, but remember that it's from an incomplete product, which would have likely been a lot more interesting.

In any case, the 3D movement is certainly an interesting direction to take brawlers in, as so far we've only been used to one-plane fighting, ever since the early days of Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat and Tekken.

The game was reportedly being worked on by Double Helix, who, after scrapping it, began work on Killer Instinct, the reboot of the classic combo-based fighting game, that was then released as part of the Xbox One launch lineup.

Killer Instinct is a free-to-play game on the Xbox One, with single characters being offered for free on a regular rotation, and with the others unlockable by purchasing them individually or as part of packs.
