Mark Jacobs, the current leader of City State Entertainment, says that he looked at other MMOs, including the modern Guild Wars 2, when creating the new Camelot Unchained, in order to make sure that his title was unique on the market.

He tells VG247 that he learned that only a niche experience can get a solid group of fans and use a subscription model.

Jacobs states, “Take some risks, that’s the whole point of doing it via Kickstarter and not going with a publisher who would be most likely – as you know – anti-risk.”

Camelot Unchained is designed to focus on Realm versus Realm battles, with players working together in order to control territory in battles that can reach 1,000 gamers entering combat at the same time.

The game will also not feature any sort of item drops, and all classes will be unique.
