Gamers will be able to watch the matches starting on Friday

The development team at Infinity Ward, publisher Activision and the organizers of the X Games are ready to announce the eight teams that will compete in the first Call of Duty major League Gaming Invitation tournament, which takes place between June 6 and 8 in Austin.

They include the top three finishers from the Call of Duty Championship on the Xbox: Evil Geniuses aka CompLexity, EnVyUs and OpTic Gaming.

They are joined by the top five teams, according to the MLG Prop Points ranking, which are: OpTic Nation, Team KaLiBeR, FaZe Red, Curse Orange and Strictly Business.

The official announcement adds that the eight teams are split into two groups and that, "The two teams from each group to win two Group Play matches will advance to the semifinals. The losers from the semifinals will face off in the Bronze Medal match, while the two winning teams will compete in the finals for X Games Gold!"

All fans of the Call of Duty multiplayer experience can start watching the matches at the X Games in Austin starting on Friday, June 6, on the MLG channels on the web or on the official app on the Xbox 360.

There are also plans to show highlights on the variety of television channels.
