Mark Rubin, the main producer working on the new Call of Duty: Ghosts, says that his team has redefined how sniper weapons function in the coming shooter in order to make quickscoping as the community knows it no longer viable.

The developer says the Marksman class and a new focus on sight lines in map design have made playing a dedicated sniper a more interesting choice for players.

A Twitter message states, "in re-envisioning sniper rifles some aspects, such as sway timing, have changed the way sniper rifles function and so traditional 'quick-scoping' has been affected. Is it gone completely? Maybe."

Gamers are invited to offer their feedback on this piece of news on the official forums of the game and more information about gameplay features will be offered in the coming weeks.

Call of Duty: Ghosts will be launched on the PC and current-gen consoles on November 5 on all major markets.
