There won't be branching storylines but players can change certain aspects

Call of Duty: Ghosts, the next installment in the popular series, will have different hidden items in its missions that will change the way those adventures are played or will impact future quests.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 last year introduced branching storylines and placed a big emphasis on the choices made by players during their actual missions.

While this bigger focus on player actions will be carried over to Call of Duty: Ghosts, developer Infinity Ward won't copy the system employed by Black Ops 2 studio Treyarch.

Instead, its missions will have certain hidden items which, when picked up, will have an impact on how certain portions of that mission unfolds or how the overall story players out.

Players shouldn't be worried about missing these items, as they'll pop up several times throughout the whole campaign, according to an interview of developer Mark Rubin with OPM.
