Infinity Ward has confirmed that the story mode in Call of Duty: Ghosts, the next installment in the series, supports side missions, and the player's choices will make a difference in the plot.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is the next installment in the franchise, and developer Infinity Ward has already revealed that it will have a brand new story set in a different universe than the Modern Warfare series.

After learning some details about the plot of the game, Infinity Ward's Mark Rubin has confirmed to IGN that the single-player campaign can be determined by player choices and will even support side missions that will impact certain events.

This mechanic is similar to the one used by last year's Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, which featured different choices through missions and even had the optional Strike Force activities that placed a bigger emphasis on strategy than first-person shooting.

No other details were offered but you can expect the studio to show off more of Ghosts next month, at E3 2013.
