Borderlands Online just kicked off its technical alpha test this weekend in China, and its official trailer shows a ton of explosive action.

The game was first teased back in December last year, as an online first-person shooter exclusive to China. For the time being, there is no information regarding the game's prospective availability in other regions, but in case you're curious to see what such a game looks like, you can watch the trailer below.

The game is designed to be an instance-based multiplayer shooter, in stark contrast to the Borderlands series' exciting open-world design.

Borderlands Online comes from 2K, Shanda Games and Gearbox Software and seems to be looking like more than just a standard free-to-play online shooter with a Borderlands skin slapped onto it, featuring some interesting-looking environments and some deeper customization options.

The game features PvE as well as PvP content and shares the same old story where players step into the shoes of Vault Hunters attracted by Pandora's riches. The action takes place in cordoned-off arenas, and weapons are divided into five main categories, Assault Rifle, Sniper Rifle, Shotgun, Submachine Gun and Pistol.

The developer revealed that, for the time being, gamers could choose from four different playable classes, Soldier, Hunter, Siren and Berserker, and you can see how they all look in the concept art gallery below.
