Gearbox Software has just confirmed at PAX East that Borderlands 2 will get two separate improvements on April 2, one increasing the level cap to 61 and another introducing a third playthrough called Ultimate Vault Hunter mode.

Borderlands 2 came out in September of last year and has since entertained millions of fans with its top-notch campaign as well as through different expansions that were released by developer Gearbox Software.

Now, Gearbox is set to introduce two long-awaited improvements to the game on April 2, according to its conference at PAX East..

The first is an increase to the level cap, which takes the current limit that's set at 50 and pushes it to level 61. The add-on that enables this increase will be free to Season Pass owners while those with regular copies of the game need to pay $5/€5.

The second major improvement is a third playthrough called Ultimate Vault Hunter mode, which can be experienced once players are at level 50. This new mode will be available as a free download for all Borderlands 2 owners.
