After the closure of the GameSpy multiplayer system, 2K Games has confirmed that quite a few of its titles will be transitioned over to the Steamworks mechanic, including Borderlands 1 and Civilization 3 and 4.

GameSpy powered the online modes of quite a few different games a few years ago and the company has revealed that it's shutting down support for all of them on May 31.

Already a few partners have said that they'll change the online system in their games to new solutions, and 2K Games has now confirmed that it's also going to transition some of its titles.

On the official website, the publisher has revealed that Borderlands 1, Civilization III and its two expansions (Conquests and Play the World), and Civilization IV and its three expansions (Beyond the Sword, Colonization, and Warlords) will all transition to the Steamworks online system. During this process, the online mode might encounter some issues and offline periods, but it will soon return to normal.

However, 2K has said that a lot of other, older games will see their online modes go offline permanently after GameSpy shuts down, so check out the list below.

Close Combat First to Fight (PC / Mac) Jetfighter (PC) Jetfighter V: Homeland Protector (PC) Leadfoot (PC) Rune (PC) Stronghold 2 (PC) Stronghold Legends (PC) Top Spin (PS2 / PC) Top Spin 2 (PC / DS) Vietcong (PC) Vietcong Demo (PC) Vietcong Fist Alpha (PC) Vietcong 2 (PC) Vietcong 2 Demo (PC) MLB Fantasy All-Stars (DS) Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution (DS) Major League Baseball 2K9 Fantasy All-Stars (DS) NHL 2K10 (Wii) NBA 2K10 (Wii)
