The company has canceled its Titan project

Mike Morhaime, the chief executive officer at Blizzard, says that he personally believes that the World of Warcraft MMO that his company has created has the potential to remain relevant for a long time, and the company aims to offer support for it forever, as long as demand from gamers still exists.

The statement is recorded by Polygon, as the studio announces that it is shutting down all development work linked to the Titan MMO project, which was never officially shown to the public but has been apparently a big part of the company’s activity for the past seven years.

The cancellation seems to be a sign that at the moment Blizzard does not have any clear ideas about how it can revolutionize the genre.

Morhaime adds, “I wouldn't say no to ever doing an MMO again. But I can say that right now, that's not where we want to be spending our time.”

World of Warcraft will get a new expansion called Warlords of Draenor before the end of the year, and the company has pledged to continue offering smaller patches which will tweak the balance of the MMO, but also to introduce new content.

The company is at the moment focusing on the development of both Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm.
