The two titles launched so far are created around the core of a city

Ken Levine, the leader of the development team at Irrational Games, says that his entire studio needs to find a very good idea in order to create further titles set in the BioShock franchise, but it might also hand it over to another developer.

In a Reddit-powered Ask Me Anything session, he states, “It will ALWAYS be dependent upon us having an idea that we’re in love with and excites us. IF we don’t have that, I suspect it would be another studio making one, if there was one to make.”

Levine also suggests that Irrational Games started the development of both the original BioShock and Infinite by focusing on the cities of Rapture and Columbia.

At the moment, the studio is working on Burial at Sea, a DLC that will take players back underwater in two episodes that will allow gamers to become both Booker and Elizabeth.
