David Cage, the leader of the Quantic Dream development team, says that his upcoming game Beyond: Two Souls is close to going into beta stage at the moment and that his studio and publisher Sony will also soon announce a launch date for 2013.

The developer tells IGN that, “Beyond is almost in beta. It will come out this year and the release date will be announced soon.”

It’s unclear whether the beta stage will be open to all those who want to take part or whether just a select few will be able to sample the game before it launches.

Beyond: Two Souls tells the story of a young woman who is followed by a supernatural entity and tracks her over a long period as she tries to uncover the secret of her destiny.
