The CTE helps the developers test changes

Developer Visceral Games has announced that Battlefield Hardline will be getting its own Community Test Environment servers soon.

The studio just released the 1.02 update for all platforms yesterday, and together with fixing many of the reported issues encountered by players, the team has decided to also deliver the good news that the CTE is coming.

Having a dedicated CTE means that Visceral will be able to deploy fixes and various additions, as well as test out various balance tweaks, ahead of approving them for the entirety of the player base.

This resulted in a more streamlined and rigorous implementation process with Battlefield 4, and it will likely lead to a quantifiable improvement in the quality of Battlefield Hardline too, especially as far as gauging the effects of various netcode and bullet update changes more accurately before releasing them into the wild.

The service will be separate from the one used by Battlefield 4, and Visceral will release it on PC initially, with more details to be revealed soon. The Community Test Environment servers are expected to go live next month, and the first thing that will undergo testing will be a map from the first downloadable content pack for the newly released first-person shooter, titled Criminal Activity.

Battlefield Hardline is available on Windows PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
