The game was canceled in 2014, only to make a reappearance

Good news for fans of Banjo-Kazooie and 3D platforming games in general, as it appears that the rumored spiritual successor to the bear and bird adventure simulator is back in the cards.

Some former Rare developers planned to reunite and try and create a successor to the series, with completely new characters, since they don't own the IP, but keeping its soul intact, and many people had their hopes up until the announcement that the project would be canceled came earlier this year.

Now, it's apparently not the case anymore, and it looks like the troop is now determined to get together and make it happen.

The game is titled Mingy Jongo, designed to be a true successor in spirit to the original Nintendo 64 Banjo-Kazooie, and the news of its resurgence comes from both the official Twitter account, previously inactive since 2012, and from Grant Kirkhope, the series' composer.

The Mingy Jongo Twitter account revealed posted messages containing the words "ctrl," "alt," and "del," right before the year's end, and the composer then tweeted a statement that put all doubts to rest.

The game will now become a reality, but for the time being, there is no hard data on it, such as a prospective date for a Kickstarter campaign or anything of the sort. We'll be back with more information when it becomes available.
