Feargus Urquhart, the leader of Obsidian, reveals that one of the much talked-about canceled projects from the company was called Backspace and was supposed to mix science fiction elements and mechanics from the role-playing genre.

The executive tells Kotaku that, “Backspace was a project concept that we neither cancelled nor greenlit. We had some great people work on the idea for Backspace for a bit of time and then moved them off to other projects as opportunities came up.”

Apparently, a prototype was created in 2011 and at some point in the future, Obsidian might return to the game and create a playable version for the public.

Backspace features time travelling and was supposed to allow the player to modify his character using cybernetic enhancements.

At the moment, Obsidian is creating the classic role-playing game Project Eternity.
