It's a big day for video game publisher Ubisoft as the company has confirmed that Assassin's Creed Unity is one of the two titles in the franchise that will be launched in the fall of this year, coming to the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PC.

The information comes from a financial briefing and VG247 says that the development teams involved in its creation are linked to studios in Montreal, Toronto, Singapore, Quebec, Annecy, Shanghai, Chengdu, Kiev, Montpellier and Bucharest.

Yves Guillemot, the chief executive officer of the company, has told investors that the game will push forward the core narrative of the series and that it is designed to take advantage of the power of new gaming hardware.

Rumors are suggesting that the other Assassin's Creed experience to be launched in 2014 is called Combat and will be only offered on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

Ubisoft might be ready to make an announcement about it later or it might simply have delayed it in order to make sure that it does not overwhelm the player base by delivering the two titles too close together.

Unity will use the French Revolution as its setting and it is set to introduce new gameplay mechanics to the series.
