Rovio has just revealed Angry Birds Star Wars 2, the next installment in its hugely successful franchise, which will be out in September across mobile platforms.

It features, for the first time in the series, a new tech called Telepods that's similar to Activision's Skylanders or Disney's Infinity projects.

Angry Birds Star Wars was one of the most intriguing new directions explored by the franchise made by Rovio, and now it seems that the Finnish developer is back with Angry Birds Star Wars II.

The installment features new characters and a new storyline which will even let players choose their side, either go with the good birds or the bad piggies.

What's more, for the first time in the series, Angry Birds Star Wars 2 incorporates Hasbro's new Telepods technology, which is similar to Activision's Skylanders or Disney's Infinity games.

This means that players will have to buy actual real-life toys and teleport them inside the game to actually use them.

The game is out on September 19 "across App Stores worldwide." Check out the first video with Angry Birds Star Wars 2 above.
