BioShock Infinite is one of the most expected video game launches of this year and analysts are suggesting that it might also be one of the most expensive development projects ever, costing publisher 2K more than 100 million dollars (77.4 million Euro).

The sources that have supplied the figure are unnamed, but VG247 says that they also claim the money was only used for actual game creation, with a similar amount also linked to marketing efforts for the Irrational Games title.

Traditionally, companies are unwilling to reveal costs associated with their projects, but it’s widely believed that the most expensive game of this generation is Grand Theft Auto IV, another title published by 2K.

Ken Levine has claimed that the cost projection is way off.

BioShock: Infinite will be out on the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 on March 26.
