Its status will be similar to Sports Interactive and Creative Assembly

Naoya Tsurumi, the chief operating officer at SEGA, says that his company has no plans to involve itself in the internal affairs of the newly acquired Atlus in order to change or cancel some of the games it is already working on.

The executive says the company will continue to manage all their own brands, similar to how SEGA overseas studios are currently doing.

Atlus will be similar in status to Sports Interactive, the creators of Football Manager 2014, and The Creative Assembly, makers of the Total War franchise.

Tsurumi is quoted by Siliconera as saying that, “we’re at a point where Sega is offering Index to freely make use of any resources they may have, that Index does not. Index will be keeping many of their fine qualities, such as Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei IP, and many others.”

SEGA will be taking over all publishing duties for future releases.
