Publisher Sega has released the launch trailer for the first-person horror survival game Alien: Isolation, coming out today all across the world.

The game puts players in the shoes of Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Ellen Ripley, the protagonist of Ridley Scott's 1979 sci-fi thriller, played by Sigourney Weaver.

Amanda has spent her whole life in search of answers related to her mother's disappearance, and now she's about to find what she was looking for all along.

Coming from developers The Creative Assembly, Alien: Isolation attempts to deliver a proper, moody horror experience, as opposed to traditional entries in the genre, which tend to focus more on action and shooting grotesque apparitions in the face.

In Alien: Isolation, you have to sneak, hide, hold your breath and be patient and cautious, slowly making your way through the Sevastopol, a space station that has been infested by the Xenomorph.

The alien creature cannot be killed, and your best weapons will only buy you limited respite from the ongoing hunt, merely scaring the beast away.

The video game is available on Windows PC, the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 home consoles from Sony, and the Xbox 360 and Xbox One computer entertainment systems from Microsoft.
