Lennart Sas, the leader of the Triumph Studios, says that Markus Persson, the creator of Minecraft, is working with his team on the development of the upcoming Age of Wonders 3.

The developer tells Eurogamer that, “There was certainly interest but the prospect of having Notch help fund was a dream come true, as he’s a fan of the game and didn’t insist on owning it like many of the publishers do these days when they fund development.”

Notch was initially worried that Age of Wonders 3 would take up a lot of his time, but the team had progressed enough with the development that the indie legend was able to offer ideas without renouncing his own work.

Lennart Sas says he was inspired to talk to Persson after he had seen a mention of Age of Wonders in Minecraft.

The new game will be launched on the PC during fall 2013.
