Customers aren't happy with the mandatory online connection

The ongoing controversy surrounding SimCity and its mandatory online connection has sparked a backlash from owners of the game as many have started signing a petition that demands publisher Electronic Arts implement an offline mode.

SimCity came out last week and was eagerly awaited by millions upon millions of fans from all around the world.

Sadly, this massive influx of users caused the SimCity and Origin digital distribution service to buckle under the strain, effectively locking people out of the games they bought.

Publisher EA and developer Maxis have since remedied some of these issues but SimCity owners are still angry and have begun signing a special petition that will hopefully result in the two companies adding an offline mode.

Over 59,000 people have signed the petition, available at this link, but considering such a thing also happened with Blizzard's Diablo 3 last year, and the studio didn't do anything about it, it's unlikely that EA and Maxis will be swayed by this effort.
