The Pokemon Company International announces that 2013 Pokemon Video Game Championships will take place in Europe during May and June and will allow fans of the franchise to compete in open events hosted by Milan, Bochum and Birmingham.

The competition will use a new format which will allow players with good standing to continue playing after one loss and get a second chance to progress to a single elimination round, which will determine the champions that will represent Europe at the 2013 Pokemon World Championships in Vancouver, Canada.

There are three age groups for players who want to take part, designed to allow all those interested to compete regardless of their skill level.

The team states, “Players can build their teams using Pokémon from the National Pokédexi and must play using Pokémon Black 2 or Pokémon White 2 video games for the Nintendo 3DSTM or Nintendo DSTM family of systems. Players will need to bring their Player ID to their event in order to compete.”
