Once Bitten, Twice Dead!

Once Bitten, Twice Dead!, neat little game that aims to achieve really big things. It’s a first-person shooter that’s built using simple block-based graphics, it’s minimalistic in design, but it focuses a lot of attention on gameplay, something that actually matters.

First off, after you download this, keep in mind that it’s a pre-alpha version of things to come. It’s a rather well polished demo but diversity is not yet a feature, although that’s part of the big plan for the finished product.

The idea behind the game is one you've certainly heard of or had to deal with before, meaningly, zombies have taken over the word and you must do everything you can to survive. What’s different in Once Bitten, Twice Dead! is delivery.

For a pre-alpha, Once Bitten, Twice Dead! has a rock solid design and smooth gameplay. It looks harmless enough to be inviting, and somewhat comical with it voxel-like graphics and all, but once you enter the zombie infested world the game throws some pretty good punches. It’s built to offer the best of both singleplayer and multiplayer worlds without cutting corners.

Even if it’s in very early stages of development, Once Bitten, Twice Dead! shows all the right signs of a great thing waiting to happen. The world around, even though minimal in design and details still feels rich when exploring and for a survival game with this approach that’s a really good thing.

Combine that with the fact that it will offer 15 playable characters and the ability to craft weapons and gear and you get a game that will keep you connected a very long time. Moreover its multiplayer feature is intended to house 100 people at a time and regardless of how large the arena gets, it all translates to wonderfully entertaining chaos.

Once Bitten, Twice Dead! aims really high but so far, from the little we got to see it’s definitely on the right track and worth the extra miles until development is complete. When that goal is reached, it will offer over 50 weapons and more than 100 craftable items that will add complexity and depth to the entire thing.
