As the name implies, the whole action takes place inside a computer, which means that you are surrounded by electricity and all sorts of devices. However, the scale is very tiny, so don’t expect to see things like transistors or similar components, because you are actually a lot smaller than those. Hence, it truly feels like a different world, even if it’s tough to recognize anything along the way.

Most of your time is spent jumping around, and there are a few other environmental factors that contribute to the overall gameplay experience. Glowing orbs allow you to fly through the level over short distances, and there are a few special ramps that provide you with a huge jump boost in order to get to a farther away platform. Many other such things become available along the way, so the adventure is never dull.

Lastly, it must be said that the developers managed to create quite an immersive atmosphere, mainly thanks to the nice level design and the great environmental sound effects. You truly feel like you are part of a strange world, and it’s a pleasure to explore it. The graphics quality is top notch as well, and the controls are snappy and responsive at all times.

In the end, Construct: Escape the System is far from an original concept, but it’s both fun and immersive, which is more than can be said about many other platformers out there. Moreover, the gameplay is fairly challenging, as it needs to be in a game of this type.
