Codename CURE
A first-person shooter in which you get to blast zombies to pieces along with other players. #Source Engine mod #Zombie shooter #First person shooter #FPS #Zombie #Half-Life
I’m not a big fan of zombies, they’re everywhere and they’re really boring. I am, however, a fan of shooting stuff and if that stuff is represented by hordes of zombies, then be it. There is a great abundance of games that have the brain-dead saps as bullet catchers but it seems that there still is demand for them. Hence, Codename CURE.
Codename CURE is a first-person shooter that comes to life with the help of the all wonderful Source Engine. Expect good graphics, decent effects, and Counter-Strike weapons. However, there’s not much to look forward past that.
The game uses a semi run-and-gun approach, meaning that you and your teammates have to get through a bunch of sections of the map where zombies are or spawn like crazy. There’s no story to any of the maps, no side missions, people to rescue, or anything else to do other than shoot until you die or run out of ammo. It’s very underwhelming, and it gets tedious after a half an hour of gameplay. Edit: Oh, I forgot to mention that you and your team do have one other thing to do. Plant a bomb to eradicate the zombie infestation. Still, it doesn't get Codename CURE bonus points.
Codename CURE is a well-rounded game for people who like just to shoot stuff while in a team with friends, strangers or even bots. It lacks charm or personality; it’s an empty game with no atmosphere.
I’m not even sure why this is on Steam, but then again, most people Greenlight games that are promised to be free to play, like Codename CURE is. Even the design of the maps is basic. Considering how much Source Engine has to offer, and what can be done with it, if this game is to attract serious gamers, it needs to step up by a hell of a lot.
To end, Codename CURE is way too generic and underproduced to have any real merit. It’s just a decent way of blowing off some steam.
